How much does tree removal cost?

Removal pricing depends on more variables than most homeowners expect, which is why almost every company quotes after seeing the tree.

What actually drives the number:

• Proximity to structures. Usually the single largest factor. A tree that can be felled in one piece into open lawn costs a fraction of the same tree overhanging a roof, which has to be dismantled in sections.
• Equipment access. Whether a truck or crane can reach the tree, or whether everything has to be carried through a gate, changes labour hours substantially.
• Height and trunk diameter. Relevant, but less decisive than access and proximity.
• Species and condition. Dead or unstable trees are riskier to climb and rig, which raises cost.
• Lean and power line proximity. A tree leaning toward a structure or near energized lines requires different technique and sometimes utility coordination.

What is usually priced separately: stump grinding, debris haulaway, and log removal. These are the most common sources of dispute, so they should be explicit in the quote either way.
