Where should a handyman advertise online?

Start free. Google Business Profile and local neighborhood groups produce the most booked jobs for most handymen. Paid lead services can fill slow weeks but sell the same lead to several handymen, so track cost per booked job before committing budget.

Where should a handyman advertise online?

Every handyman gets the same calls: a lead service wanting a monthly fee, a directory wanting a listing fee, and someone selling ads. Some of it works. Most of it works considerably better after the free channels are fixed.

In order of return:

  • Google Business Profile. Free, and still the largest single lever. Complete profile, correct categories, service area by town, real photos, steady reviews, and occasional posts.
  • Local neighborhood groups. Free, and consistently underrated. Recommendations from a neighbor carry more weight than any advertisement.
  • Past customers. Free, and the one almost everyone skips. Highest return per hour of any channel on this list.
  • Local Services Ads. Charged per lead rather than per click, which is fairer. Test with a small daily budget and only on the repairs with the best margin.
  • Paid lead services. They can fill a slow month, and they frequently sell the same lead to several handymen. Track what you pay per lead and what share becomes a booked job. If a booked job costs more than a quarter of its value, stop.

Skip printed directories, mailers with no offer, and any service that cannot tell you where a lead came from. If they cannot show you, you cannot improve it.
